GREENSBORO, N.C., May 23, 2013 – James Madison track & field freshman Jenna Flickinger (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) tallied a 21st-place finish in the 10,000-meter run at the 2013 NCAA East Preliminaries meet on Thursday evening.
Seeded in 37th place, Flickinger turned in a time of 35:00.93 to take the 21st position out of 47 runners. The mark was 20 seconds behind her personal best of 34:40.33 which she set at the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association championships on May 3.
The top time of 33:17.39 was notched by Cornell’s Katie Kellner, and the final qualifying time for the NCAA meet of 33:49.22 was turned in by NC State’s Joanna Thompson. William & Mary’s Elaina Balouris finished the race in ninth place at 33:43.27 to post the top time for the conference and advance to the finals at the NCAA Championship meet.
JMU will be represented in the 5,000-meter run on Saturday, May 23, by senior Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill). She will take to the track at approximately 8:05 p.m. for the preliminary heat.
