HARRISONBURG, Va. - James Madison men’s soccer volunteered with the RAOS program at Skyline Middle school on Thursday.  RAOS, which is the word “soar” spelled backwards, is an after school program for fifth and sixth grade students. RAOS runs during the entire school year Monday through Thursday.

During the first half of each afternoon the students work on homework and for the second half the students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities.

This is the third year that the men’s soccer team has offered a clinic once a week as an activity.  The students learn basic skills, play small-sided scrimmages and attempt a trick of the day during the clinic that lasts five weeks.

“It is great getting to see more of Harrisonburg. We get to make a kid’s day while showing them what we love,” said Dale Robins-Bailey, a senior for the Dukes.

After the end of the clinic in May, the students will come to JMU to tour the Athletics Performance Center, eat lunch in a dining hall and play soccer at University Park.
