HARRISONBURG, Va., Feb. 4, 2014—James Madison University Athletics’ office of sport psychology and the Challace J. McMillin Center for Sport Psychology will host Dr. Dave Yukelson as the speaker for the 2014 McMillin Sport Psychology Forum on Wednesday, February 5, at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Hall Auditorium. All JMU student-athletes, coaches and staff are invited to attend the presentation.
As a premier sport psychology consultant, Dr. Yukelson brings extensive experience working with athletes and teams of all types and levels of competitive sport. Dr. Yukelson will discuss the adjustments that student-athletes must go through and strategies to enhance confidence, composure and circle of control while competing.
For the past 27 years, Dr. Yukelson has served as the in-house sport psychologist for the Penn State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Interested in mental skills training for performance excellence in sport and life, he works with 31 teams at Penn State. Dr. Yukelson counsels and supports coaches and athletes through numerous sport psychology practices.
Dr. Yukelson is also a member of the USA Track and Field Sport Psychology Registry. He has traveled internationally with various USA National and Junior National Track and Field Teams.
Dr. Yukelson will also conduct a session geared towards JMU coaches and staff on Thursday afternoon.
