HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison University men’s soccer will play 13 home games at University Park in the 2013 season, Head Coach Tom Martin announced today. The schedule includes several traditional soccer powerhouses along with a full Colonial Athletic Association slate.

“I find this to be a very challenging schedule for us in 2013,” Martin said. “Our pre-season and tough non-conference games will get us prepared for the tough CAA schedule ahead.  The fact that we now have an established new home at UPark will have to be used to our advantage.  We all look forward to it.”

The Dukes will open the season on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 2012 NCAA second-round participant UMBC and return home for its first of the “baker’s dozen” schedule with an exhibition against George Washington on Saturday, Aug. 24. Madison opens the regular season with four straight at home, starting with Fordham, Friday, Aug. 30 and followed by Binghamton, UNCG and VMI.

JMU takes to the road to play at last year’s national runner-up Georgetown on Sun., Sept. 15. However that is the only road game in the first 10 of the year, as the squad returns for five more at home, including Stetson, Furman and Loyola (Md.), before opening conference play against defending CAA champion Northeastern, Sun., Oct. 6 and Delaware on Wed., Oct. 9

Madison travels for its only back-to-back road games of the year, heading to UNCW, Sat., Oct. 12 and Hofstra, Wed., Oct. 16. JMU then hosts Belmont, Tue., Oct. 22 and CAA-foe and 2012 NCAA participant Drexel, Sat., Oct. 26. A trip to league-newcomer College of Charleston follows Wed., Oct. 30 before the team honors its seniors in their final regular season home game against Georgia Southern, Sun., Nov. 3. The Dukes wrap up the regular season and conference slate with a road game at in-state rival William & Mary, Wed., Nov. 6. The

Last season, Madison was 9-7-3 with a quality 7-1-2 record at University Park, including a 1-0 win over then No. 1 North Carolina.
