SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
♦ The Tribe
holds a 2-12 record and a 0-3 record in CAA play after falling in 71-69 in
overtime at Northeastern on Jan. 10.
William & Mary tied for ninth in the preseason coaches' poll with
Towson and is currently tied for ninth with Towson and George Mason through
three games of league play.
♦ Of William & Mary's 12 losses, nine
have been by fewer than 10 points and six were two-possession games at the final
buzzer.
♦ Redshirt senior guard Janine Aldridge is averaging 3.46 made 3-point field goals a game,
which leads the team and the CAA and is fourth in the nation. She is also second in the league in steals
per game (2.69), helping lead the Tribe to a CAA-high 12.1 steals per game.
♦ Senior forward Emily Correal, selected to the preseason
All-CAA Second Team, leads the team in points per game (17.0) and rebounds per
game (8.4). The senior has also made it
to the free-throw line 83 times this season and converted her shots 57 times.
JMU FAST BREAK
♦ The Dukes
are now 8-7 on the year and 2-1 in conference play. While they are averaging 6.9 more points per
game than opponents, their last two games have been decided by three points or
less (Jan. 10 L vs. Drexel, 48-46; Jan. 13 W vs. Northeastern, 68-65). Seven games have been decided by five points
or less, and JMU is 3-4 in those close decisions.
♦ With her
game-winning 3-point shot on Jan. 13 against Northeastern, senior guard Tarik Hislop moved into sixth on JMU's
all-time points list, passing Shanna Price
(1999-2003, 1,496). Hislop now has 1,498
career points as a Duke.
♦ Junior
guard Kirby Burkholder currently
leads JMU in made 3-pointers per game, averaging 2.93 made shots from beyond
the arc, and is third in the CAA and 20th nationally. She also leads the team in steals (2.1), rebounds
(8.0) and free-throw percentage (90.0%).
♦ Freshman
guard Precious Hall is third on the
team in points per game (6.1) and is shooting 36.4 percent from beyond the
arc. She dished out a career-high five
assists in the 68-65 victory over Northeastern on Jan. 10.
