A media arts and design major with minors in sport communication and computer information systems, Callahan adds JMU Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year to a long list of accomplishments during her four-year career. She was twice named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State team as well as earning JMU Dean's List five times and President's List once. The Virginia Beach, Va., native was twice honored as a JMU Athletic Director Scholor-Athlete and is a four-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Award winner. On the court, Callahan graduates as one of the most successful student-athletes in program history. She was a First Team All-CAA honoree in 2010 and a CAA All-Rookie selection in 2007. She is one of three players in program history to compile over 1,300 kills and 900 digs. In the JMU volleyball record books, Callahan ranks second in total attack attempts (3, 942), third in kills (1,354), fourth in sets played (454), fifth in kills per set (2.98) and eighth in digs (978).
In other awards, seniors Dawn Evans (women's basketball) and CJ Sapong (soccer) were named the Female and Male Athletes of the Year, respectively, while senior Lindsay Callahan (volleyball) and junior Dixon Wright (football) was voted the program's Gary '81 & Fredericka (Cookie) McCollum Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
