HARRISONBURG, Va., Nov. 16, 2012 - For its final meet of the season, the James Madison cross country team will travel to New York City for the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships on Saturday, Nov. 17. The 5,000-meter championship race will be run through historic Van Cortlandt Park and is set to begin at 10:30 a.m.

James Madison, which finished fourth last year, will compete against defending champion Iona College and runner-up La Salle University as well as CAA-foe Delaware.  The Dukes will also face runners from Columbia, Duquesne, Marist, Princeton, Rider, Saint Joseph's, Siena, Temple and Villanova.

"[The ECAC championship] is a very high quality meet with some tough runners," head coach Dave Rinker says.  "It's a very challenging course, but one I think we're ready to handle and one I think we'll do quite well on."

Senior Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) returns to the event as the defending individual champion, having won the 2011 ECAC title with a time of 17:29.  The ECAC Championship race will be her final cross country event at the collegiate level.

Fellow senior Katie Gorman (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) is also set to compete in her final cross country meet as a Duke.  She did not compete in last year's ECAC championship event, but finished in 12th place with a time of 17:53.6 as a sophomore in 2010.

Sophomore Kristen Landry (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) returns to the course after her 23rd-place finish in last year's race.  Landry finished the course with a time of 18:22 in 2011.  Freshman Jenna Flickinger (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) is slated to make her ECAC debut at the event on Saturday.
