RICHMOND, Va. - Senior Michelle Nguyen (Springfield, Va./South County) and sophomore Taylor Pinchoff (Sylvan Lake, Mich./West Bloomfield) were named the Colonial Athletic Association Doubles Team of the Week for women's tennis after a solid weekend of play.
JMU went 1-1 over the weekend, winning 6-1 over Howard and narrowly falling 4-3 at Navy. In both matches, the Dukes earned the doubles point.
Nguyen and Pinchoff went 2-0 at the No. 1 position this weekend. First, the duo knocked off Howard's Katelyn Stokes and Talia Johnson 8-3 on Saturday. Navy's Erin Snook and Noelle Kaufmann were next, dropping an 8-3 match to the Dukes. The senior-sophomore duo is undefeated (3-0) this spring and now sits at 11-3 overall this season.
Pinchoff also won in singles competition against Navy, downing Emani Decquir 6-4, 6-2.
The Dukes venture east on Saturday, February 23 for a 4 p.m. face-off against conference opponent William & Mary. JMU currently sits at 1-1 when facing CAA members, holding a 5-0 win over George Mason (Jan. 28) and a 4-3 loss to UNCW (Feb. 1).
