RICHMOND, Va., April 16, 2013 – Both the James Madison men’s and women’s tennis teams are three seeds for the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association Tennis Championships, it was announced Monday afternoon. The tournament is held April 19-21 in Williamsburg, Va., and is hosted by William & Mary.
On the women’s side, third-seeded JMU will face sixth-seeded Towson on April 19 at 9 a.m. in the quarterfinals. The winner of the match will face either second-seeded UNCW or seventh-seeded Hofstra in the semifinals, who play at 9 a.m. Friday morning alongside the Dukes and Tigers.
In men’s quarterfinal action on April 19, third-seeded JMU will take on sixth-seeded Hofstra at noon with the winner to face second-seeded William & Mary in the semifinal round.
JMU women’s tennis finished the season 4-3 in league action, including a 7-0 win over Towson on April 13. The Dukes finished the season 11-6 overall, tallying wins in nine of their last 11 matches and riding a three-match win-streak.
JMU men’s tennis heads into the conference tournament with an 8-10 overall record and a 2-3 record against CAA foes, including a 6-0 win over Hofstra on Feb. 15. They have won three of their last four matches, with their lone loss coming to No. 62 Old Dominion.
Women’s semifinals will be held Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. and the championship match will take place Sunday, April 21 at 10 a.m. Men’s semifinals are set for 2 p.m. Saturday with the championship match Sunday at 2 p.m.
