RICHMOND, Va., March 13, 2013 - Freshman Cara Wirth (Reading, Pa./Wilson) was named the Colonial Athletic Association women's tennis Co-Player of the Week after she went undefeated in Orlando, Fla., March 3-6.

She began the road trip with a two-set sweep (6-1, 6-1) over Penn's Emma Whitfield at the No. 6 position on March 3 before battling for a three-set win (6-3, 1-6, 6-3) over Ball State's Kristel Sanders at the No. 5 slot on March 4.  The freshman closed out the road swing by defeating Toledo's Lexy Pitt in two sets (6-1, 6-3) at the No. 5 position on March 6.

Wirth has won all six of her single duals this spring and is riding a nine-match win streak dating back to mid-October.

Alongside senior Katherine Bulling (Loveland, Ohio/Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy), Wirth also tallied a 2-1 record in doubles play at the No. 2 slot last week.

The freshman shares her first league honors with UNCW's Alyssa Ritchie, who also went undefeated in match play over the first full week of March.

JMU hits the road for a match-up at Georgetown on Friday, March 15 at 2:30 p.m.  The match was originally scheduled for Thursday.
