Getting to Know Chris

Why did you choose JMU?

I chose JMU because of the amazing campus, the reputable College of Business, the people, and the great baseball program.

What are your goals for the year?

          Win our 2nd straight CAA Tournament and win an NCAA Regional.

What is your major?

          Marketing

What do you want to do after college?

          Play professional baseball

What activities or hobbies do you enjoy other than baseball?

Lifting, watching TV/movies, playing video games and board games, and kickin' it with my teammates and friends

Who was your baseball idol growing up?

          Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez
         

What was your greatest baseball moment pre-college?

Playing at the Cooperstown Field of Dreams tournament when I was in 6th and 7th grade and hitting in the homerun derby.

What influenced you the most in your decision to play baseball?

          My dad taking me and my brothers into the yard and having a catch

Do you have a nickname on the team?

I have too many

Johnson, Strohnson, Strohn, Yohnie, Yohn, Leron, Ron,

Novsco, and Daddy.

Do you have a pre-game ritual? If so, what is it?

          I drive to the locker room and field listening to Cam'ron and Lil' Wayne.

Do you have any superstitions when you're on the field or in the dugout?

          Don't cross bats and put my stuff in the same spot everyday.

What was your favorite moment from last year's championship season?

          The "Dog Pile" after Matt Browning caught the final out vs. Towson.

What is one thing you would change about baseball?

          I would make everyone use wood.
