James Madison will continue play in the middle of a six-game road swing by visiting William and Mary this weekend in a Colonial Athletic Association baseball series. Friday’s first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday’s contests being played in the afternoon at 4 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.

Coming into the weekend, JMU will look to snap its eight-game losing streak, including a 12-11 extra-innings loss at Liberty on Tuesday evening and a CAA series sweep last weekend at the hands of Old Dominion. The Dukes (14-17) sit in seventh place in the CAA with a 6-8 record with four series remaining.

Junior second baseman Conner Brown (Richmond, Va./Godwin) stayed hot at the plate on Tuesday night, going 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs, two RBIs and two walks.  Redshirt junior first baseman Matt Tenaglia (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) broke out of a slump with a pair of hits and four RBIs, including three on a double, along with a walk.  Senior left fielder Colby Roberts (Benton, Ark./Benton) was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored.

Scouting William and Mary

William and Mary will look to gain some momentum of its own, after having dropped four of five games prior to a 13-4 stomp of Norfolk State on Wednesday. As a whole, the Tribe is hitting .285 on the season, led by Michael Katz, who is batting .461 on the season to go along with 47 hits and 23 RBIs.  He is fifth in the nation in on-base percentage at .428, trailing JMU’s Johnny Bladel, who sits third at .538. John Farrell has been dominant on the mound this year, posting a 7-0 record to go along with a 1.55 ERA.

Series History

James Madison leads the all-time series with the Tribe 73-34, but was swept in a home series a year ago by scores of 5-0, 3-1 and 5-2. Before that, the Diamond Dukes had won six in a row, sweeping the season series in both 2010 and 2011.
