HAMPTON, Va., July 11, 2012 - Incoming James Madison freshman pitcher Michael Church (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) started for the West Team in Wednesday night's Virginia High School Coaches Association (VHSCA) All-Star Game held at War Memorial Stadium.

Church took the hill first for the West squad and tossed two innings without allowing a hit, exiting with a 1-0 lead.  The East went on to win the contest 13-6, collecting 11 hits after Church's starting effort.

Church was named the North Region Player of the Year after leading Lake Braddock to its first baseball state title in 2012.  The Bruins captured the AAA championship with Church throwing a complete game in a 7-4 victory in the state semifinal vs. C.D. Hylton.

Church signed a letter of intent to join the Dukes in November and will be one of six true freshmen, including four pitchers, for JMU in 2013.
