PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The James Madison women's golf team is currently in 15th after two rounds at the highly-competitive Web.com Intercollegiate/Marsh Landing Invitational, April 8. The two-day, 54-hole event, including six teams in the top 50 nationally, is being played at Marsh Landing Country Club (Par 72 - 5,987 yards) in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

Madison posted an 18-over 306 in the morning to sit in 17th through 18 holes. However, the squad improved seven shots in the afternoon round to shoot an 11-over 299 and is currently at 29-over 605 in 15th, just five shots back of ninth. No.14 Purdue is the 36-hole leader at 2-under 574, five shots ahead of No. 28 Iowa State at 3-over 579. No. 17 Texas Tech is third one shot back at 4-over 580, with Sam Houston State at 9-over 585. Kennesaw State rounds out the top-five teams at 12-over 588.

The Dukes are led by junior Ginger Mak who is tied for 38th at 5-over 149 (73-76). Sophomores Maria Andrea Legaspi and Shabril Brewer are tied for 53rd at 8-over 152, as Legaspi shot 78-74 and Brewer posted 79-73. Freshman Karishma Thiagaraj is tied for 60th at 9-over 153 (77-76), while sophomore Nikola Wessels is currently tied for 66th at 10-over 154 (78-76). Gabriella Dominguez of Texas Tech is the individual leader at 5-under 139 (69-70), three shots ahead of Purdue's Laura Gonzalez and Paula Reto in a tie for second at 2-under 142. Just seven players are under par through 36 holes.
