PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 2, 2012 -- Two second-half goals gave the Drexel men's soccer team a 2-0 win over
visiting James Madison in the final
night of Colonial Athletic Association regular-season play Friday night at
Vidas Field.
Drexel claimed the top seed in the upcoming CAA Tournament as the Dragons
finished first in the league standings with an 8-1-1 record. Drexel's overall record is 12-3-2, and the
Dragons extended their unbeaten streak to seven games (6-0-1).
The Dragons and second-place Northeastern (6-1-3 CAA record) will receive
first-round byes in the upcoming CAA Tournament. Drexel will host the semifinals and final on
Nov. 9 and 11.
JMU finished third in the league standings with a 6-2-2 record. The Dukes, who have an 8-6-3 overall record,
saw their unbeaten streak end at five games (4-0-1) with the loss at Drexel>
JMU will host the tournament's number six seed, North Carolina Wilmington,
Monday, Nov. 5, in a CAA first-round game at University Park. The winner of that match will face
Northeastern in a Nov. 9 semifinal game.
Tal Bublil scored on a seven-yard shot in the 62nd minute to get the Dragons on
the scoreboard. Mark Donohue added the
second goal in the 67th minute on a strike from 30 yards.
JMU freshman goalkeeper Kyle Morton (West
Chester, Pa./Henderson) made seven saves, his second-highest total of the
season.
