HARRISONBURG, Va., Dec. 21, 2011 -- James Madison men's soccer player Adam Bastidas (Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua) has been named to the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar Athlete All-East Region Team.
Bastidas, who received honorable mention, is the first JMU player since 2007 to receive the NSCAA regional honor.
A redshirt sophomore majoring in interdisciplinary liberal studies, Bastidas holds a 3.6 cumulative grade-point average. He was a starting midfielder on the Dukes' 2011 team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament round of 16.
Players who are starters, hold a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA, and are a junior or above in academic standing are eligible for nomination to the team. A committee selected the team based on both the academic and athletic accomplishments of the nominees.
