HARRISONBURG, Va., Nov. 18, 2011 -- Wake Forest will be the NCAA Tournament second-round opponent for the James Madison Dukes, who host the Demon Deacons at 5 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 20) at the JMU Soccer Complex.

Wake advanced to Sunday's game after winning a penalty-kick shootout at South Carolina Thursday night.  The Demon Deacons held a 4-3 advantage on PKs after regulation and overtime play ended in a 1-1 tie.

Scouting Wake Forest:  The Demon Deacons prevailed 4-3 in a penalty-kick shootout at South Carolina to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
     Wake Forest has an 8-7-5 overall record, with five of the seven losses coming to teams ranked in the latest Soccer America poll (#2 North Carolina, #8 Boston College, #17 South Florida, #18 Louisville, #22 Virginia).  Wake also owns a win over #22 Virginia and a tie against #10 Maryland.
     The Demon Deacons lost 4-3 in double overtime at Virginia in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. 
     Wake's last four games have gone to overtime, and the Demon Deacons have an 0-1-3 record in those contests.

  JMU is in the NCAA Championship for the first time since 2005.  The Dukes are making their ninth tournament appearance since 1992 and their 13th overall appearance (11 in Division I).  This is the first time JMU has received a first-round bye.
