Did You Know? JMU has qualified for the CAA Tournament
for the first time since 2005. The CAA
began limiting participation to six teams in 2002 and in 2009 and 2010 only
four teams made up the tournament field.
The tournament is back to six teams this year.

JMU claimed sole possession of first place in the CAA with a 3-2
home win over Old Dominion on
Oct. 26. The Dukes lost
2-0 at Drexel on Nov. 1, in a
game that postponed from Oct. 29 due to inclement weather.
Scouting
Hofstra: The Pride brings a
6-10-1 overall record and a 3-7-0 league record into its final regular-season
game vs. JMU. Hofstra is in 10th place
in the CAA standings and has been eliminated from contention for a CAA
Tournament berth.
Seven of the Pride's 17 games have
gone to overtime, including the last three matches. Five of Hofstra's 10 CAA games have involved
overtime play.
In CAA play Hofstra has beaten UNCW
(2-1), Towson (3-2 OT) and Drexel (1-0) and has lost to Georgia State (1-0 OT),
VCU (3-0), Northeastern (3-2), Delaware (3-2, 2 OT), ODU (4-1), George Mason
(3-2, 2 OT) and William and Mary (3-2 OT).
Hofstra, last year's CAA Tournament
runner-up, was picked by the CAA coaches to finish seventh in the 12-team
league.
The Series with Hofstra: Hofstra leads the series 7-5-1 and beat the
Dukes 2-0 last season in Harrisonburg.

NCAA RPI:
JMU is ranked third in the NCAA RPI (ratings
percentage index) released Nov. 1. The
Dukes are the highest-ranked CAA team and one of nine CAA teams in the top
100. Other top league teams include No.
11 Old Dominion, No. 27 Georgia State and No. 36 William and Mary. The RPI is one of the factors determining
at-large postseason invitations to the NCAA Tournament.
Wyatt Recognized: Junior Paul Wyatt
was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week,
was honored as one of College
Soccer 360's "Primetime Performers" and was selected CAA Player
of the Week for the week ending Oct. 23.
The JMU midfielder had a part in all
three goals in the Dukes' 3-2 win over No. 14 Old Dominion on Oct. 26. Wyatt scored the Dukes' first goal and
assisted on JMU's second and third scores.
Barden,
Simpson in Top 100 Freshmen List:
Jonathan
Barden and Daniel Simpson are listed among the nation's top
100 freshman soccer players in a list compiled by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Barden, who plays in the Dukes' midfield,
was ranked No. 77. Simpson, a defender,
was ranked No. 82.
Simpson has started every game and
Barden has started all but one game.
Dukes
at 12 Wins: JMU's current season
total of 12 wins is the most by a JMU team since the 2005 team won 12 games. The school record for victories is 20, by the
1994 team.
CAA Standings: JMU has earned the
number one seed for the upcoming CAA Championship and will host the six-team
tournament on Nov. 10, 11 and 12.
The Dukes can finish no worse than
tied for first with ODU in the CAA
Standings. JMU owns
the tiebreaker with ODU by virtue of the Dukes' 3-2 win over the Monarchs on
Oct. 26.
The top two seeds receive
first-round byes and will play in the CAA semifinals on Nov. 11. The number three through six seeds will meet
in first-round games on Nov. 10. The
championship match will be played on Nov. 12.
With seven total games remaining in
league play, the number three through nine teams are separated by just six
points.

for a tie.)

Top 25 poll. Also this week JMU moved
from 21st to 12th in the NSCAA coaches Top 25 poll and moved from 21st into the
No. 12 spot in the College Soccer News
Top 30 poll.
On Oct. 4 JMU made its first
national poll appearance of the season (see list below) after beating then No.
25 West Virginia 2-0 on Sept. 28.
In the always-competitive CAA, JMU
is one of seven of the league's 12 teams to be ranked or to receive votes in
the national polls this season. That
includes Old Dominion, which is currently ranked 16th in the NSCAA poll.

home winning streak for the program since JMU won nine straight home games
spanning the 2001 and 2002 seasons. The
school record is for consecutive home wins is 13, which has happened on three
