SAPONG RATED AMONG TOP 30 PROPSECTS FOR MLS DRAFT
HARRISONBURG, Va., Jan. 7, 2011 -- James Madison men's soccer player CJ Sapong (Manassas, Va./Forest Park) has been rated among the top 30 prospects for the Major League Soccer SuperDraft by an MLS panel.

Senior writer Simon Borg, director of video content Jason Saghini and college and D.C. United beat writer Travis Clark ranked the top 30 prospects for the draft (excluding international players).
Sapong was rated 21st by Borg, 24th by Saghini and 26th by Clark.
The Dukes' senior is participating in the 2011 adidas Player Combine, which begins Saturday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The 2011 MLS SuperDraft will be held at the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Convention in Baltimore on Jan. 13, and MLS clubs will have the opportunity to make additional player selections in the annual Supplemental Draft, which will be held via conference call on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
The MLS SuperDraft returns to a three-round event this year, and the following Supplemental Draft returns this year and will also consist of three rounds. The Supplemental Draft was discontinued by the league in 2009 and also did not take place in 2010.
Sapong was selected the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year and named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's 2010 Team of the Season.
The senior forward led the CAA and ranks among the leading NCAA Division I players in scoring with 33 points. He shared the CAA lead in goals (12) and game-winning goals (4) and also topped the conference with nine assists. Sapong finished his JMU career ranked fifth all-time in points (95), seventh in goals (37) and fourth in game-winning goals (12).
Sapong is the first JMU men's soccer player to win All-CAA First Team honors for four seasons.
Two former JMU players currently are on MLS rosters: Kurt Morsink ('07), DC United, and Nick Zimmerman ('09), Philadelphia Union.
