HARRISONBURG, Va., Dec. 8, 2010 -- James Madison men's soccer player CJ Sapong (Manassas, Va./Forest Park) is a nominee for Soccer News Net Player of the Year, and online fan voting constitutes 40 percent of the vote in determining the winner.
Votes may be submitted at the URL http://www.phillysoccernews.com/college/mplayerpoll.php. The voting closes Dec. 23.
Sapong, the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year, was recently named to TopDrawerSoccer.com's 2010 Team of the Season.
The senior forward led the CAA and ranks among the leading NCAA Division I players in scoring with 33 points. He shared the CAA lead in goals (12) and game-winning goals (4) and also topped the conference with nine assists. Sapong finished his JMU career ranked fifth all-time in points (95), seventh in goals (37) and fourth in game-winning goals (12).
Sapong is the first JMU men's soccer player to win All-CAA First Team honors for four seasons.
