Washington, D.C., Sept. 15, 2013 – The James Madison men’s soccer team hung with No. 17 Georgetown to the very end, but gave up the game-winning goal in the 95th minute in a non-conference game Sunday.

Brandon Allen scored the game-winner in the first overtime as the Hoyas improved to 4-2-0 overall. The Dukes, playing in their first road game of the season, dropped to 3-2-0.

Allen’s goal was his fourth of the season. He scored it following a throw in by Jared Rist.

JMU goalie Kyle Morton made two saves to keep Georgetown scoreless in regulation. He added a third save in the overtime period. He falls to 3-2-0 on the season. Hoyas’ goalie Tomas Gomez recorded the shutout, making one save to pick up his fourth win of the season.

Senior Adam Bastidas recorded the lone shot on goal for the Dukes, forcing a save by Gomez in the second half.

Georgetown held a 6-5 advantage in shots after the first half, but neither team had registered a shot on goal. The Hoyas were able to swing momentum in the second half and overtime, taking 12 shots to the Dukes’ two.

JMU will begin a five-game homestand when it hosts Stetson for a 1 p.m. game Sunday at University Park. That game, as well as three others during that stretch, will be broadcast free of charge by Madizone HD Sportsnet presented by the JMU Alumni Association.
