HARRISONBURG, Va., Oct. 29, 2011 - James Madison has earned the number one seed for the upcoming Colonial Athletic Association Men's Soccer Championship and will host the six-team tournament on Nov. 10, 11 and 13.
Northeastern's 2-0 win over Old Dominion Saturday night means the Dukes can finish no worse than tied for first with ODU in the league standings. JMU owns the tiebreaker with ODU by virtue of the Dukes' 3-2 win over the Monarchs on Oct. 26.
JMU, which has two CAA games remaining, has an 8-1 league record and 24 points. With one game left to play, ODU has a 7-3 record and 21 points. (In CAA play, three points are awarded for a win and one point for a tie.)
The top two seeds receive first-round byes and will play in the CAA semifinals on Nov. 11. The number three through six seeds will meet in first-round games on Nov. 10. The championship match will be played on Nov. 13.
JMU, ranked 17th by Soccer America, was scheduled to play at Drexel on Saturday but the game was postponed due to inclement weather. The Dukes' remaining games are at Drexel on Nov. 1 and at Hofstra on Nov. 5.
