Scouting Florida Atlantic: The Owls are unbeaten (1-0-1) after opening their season with a 3-1 win at Florida Gulf Coast on Aug. 26 and a 1-1 overtime tie at Florida International on Aug. 28. FAU, located in Boca Raton, Fla., is a member of the Mid-American Conference. The MAC's top team is defending NCAA champion and 2009 NCAA runner-up Akron. In a vote of the league's head coaches, Florida Atlantic was picked to finish seventh in the seven-team league.
The Series with Florida Atlantic: The teams have met twice previously, both in games in a tournament at Florida International in Miami in the early part of this decade. JMU won both matches by one-goal margins.
