Thank you to everyone who helped make JMU's First Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day a huge success!
Over sixty girls attended the day-long event. The day began with a welcome from Head Coach Katie Flynn of the Softball team and a meet-and-greet and autographs with members of the JMU Women's Soccer, Volleyball, Women's Golf, Lacrosse and Softball teams. The Soccer, Volleyball and Golf teams spent time teaching skills for their respective sports and playing games with the participants.
The group then moved over to the Softball game where they were able to spend time in the JMU dugout and stand on the field for the National Anthem before watching the game. The day ended over at the JMU Lacrosse complex where the group watched the Dukes defeat George Mason.
It was a fun and exciting day for everyone involved and we look forward to annually holding the event to celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Special thanks to Coach Flynn, the Softball, Lacrosse, Soccer, Volleyball and Golf teams for their help at the event.
