RICHMOND, Va., April 6, 2011 -- Senior Catrin Gunnarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden/Sanda Gymnasiet) carded back-to-back rounds of 3-over 75 and finished in a tie for second place at Monday's UNCW Lady Seahawk Classic on her way to being named Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golfer of the Week.

Gunnarsson's rounds each tied her season-low for a single round, and her 36-hole total of 6-over 150 broke her previous season low by seven strokes.
"I think Catrin played fabulous on Monday, considering how windy of a day it was," JMU Head Coach Paul Gooden said. "She just grinded it out the whole time, and to shoot 75-75 in those conditions while sewing up her spot to play in the conference championships is very impressive."
Gunnarsson's runner-up finish was the highest of her career and the first top-five finish of the 2010-11 season for any JMU golfer. She tied for second with Old Dominion freshman Elizabeth Haycock, who shot identical rounds of 3-over 75 and shared the weekly award with Gunnarsson. Both CAA competitors finished just two strokes behind medalist Fanny Wolte of East Carolina.
The Dukes are next in action at the CAA Women's Golf Championship, April 22-24 at the historic Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C.
