CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Oct. 7, 2012 -- Two seniors on the James Madison men's tennis team won their respective third-place singles matches on Sunday, the final day of play in the 2012 UVA Fall Classic.
In the Black Singles flight third-place match-up, senior Ryan Pool (Melbourne, Australia/Braemar (Chattanooga)) defeated the four-seed Brice Allanic (College of Charleston) 6-3, 6-4. Senior Hugo Ramadier (Paris, France/Lycee Francais Chateabriand (Northern Arizona)) was victorious in two 6-4 sets to take third place in the Red Singles flight over Coastal Carolina's Garik Yedigarian.
Also playing in the Red Singles flight, freshman Robert Stirling (Caboolture, Australia/St. Columbans College) fell 6-4, 6-4 to William and Mary's Aaron Chaffee in the consolation final. Fellow freshman Maxi Branth (Stockholm, Sweden) also lost his consolation final match-up in the Gold Singles flight 7-6, 6-1 to East Tennessee State University's Jorge Varon.
The Dukes will take next weekend off to prepare for the USTA/ITA Atlantic Regionals. The tournament is set to begin on Oct. 18 in Charlottesville, Va.
