HARRISONBURG, Va., April 10, 2012 - After a 4-3 road win at Richmond on Saturday, the James Madison men's tennis team returns home for its final two regular-season matches this week. The Dukes will take on Colonial Athletic Association foe George Mason on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and Longwood on Thursday at 2 p.m.. Both matches will be played at the Hillside Tennis Courts.
Madison enters its final two contests at 9-9 on the season, including a 2-2 record in the CAA. The Dukes are led by three juniors, Ryan Pool, Hugo Ramadier and Greg Vladimirsky. Pool holds a team-best 12-5 singles record during the spring season. He, along with junior Florent Sentenac, is 9-8 in doubles play, also a season-best for the Dukes. Ramadier boasts an 11-5 record while Vladimirsky is 10-8 for JMU.
George Mason enters Tuesday's competition with a 14-9 overall record after a 4-3 win over Bucknell on Saturday, April 7. The Patriots are also 1-1 in CAA competition with a 6-1 win over Hofstra on March 4 and a 6-1 loss to William and Mary on Feb. 26. Mason is led by Taylor Sargent, who held a 10-4 singles record through March 15. Current statistics were not available from George Mason.
The Dukes are also set to host Longwood in their final match of the season before the CAA Championship as the Lancers come to town to make up the match previously scheduled for March 25. Longwood is 7-8 on the season after dropping its last two matches. The Dukes and the Lancers have five common opponents on the season in William and Mary, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Richmond and George Mason. JMU is 3-1 against those opponents heading into Tuesday's contest with the Patriots while Longwood's only win came over Richmond, 4-3 on Feb. 18.
