HARRISONBURG, Va., March 15, 2012 - The James Madison men's tennis team returns to Harrisonburg this week to kick off its 2012 spring home schedule. The Dukes host Eastern Kentucky on Friday, March 16 at 11 a.m. and St. Francis (Pa.) Sunday, March 18 at 1 p.m, both matches will be played at the Hillside Tennis Courts. The previously scheduled match between the Dukes and Norfolk State on March 17 has been cancelled due to scheduling conflicts by NSU.
JMU is led by junior Greg Vladimirsky (Coral Springs, Fla./Broward Virtual) who carries a 7-2 singles record into Friday's matchup with the Colonels. Vladimirsky is joined at the top of JMU's leaderboard by junior Ryan Pool (Melbourne, Australia/Braemar(Chattanooga)). Pool is 6-3 in singles play and pairs up with junior Florent Sentenac (Borderes, France/Lycee Theophile Gautier(Auburn Montgomery)) to boast a 6-3 record at No. 2 doubles. Vladimirsky and senior teammate Bertrand Moulin (Lyon, France/Aux Lazaristes Minimes(Wayne State)) hold a 5-3 record in the top doubles position.
Eastern Kentucky enters the contest with a 10-5 record and the Colonels are currently riding a three-match win streak into Friday's meeting. The Colonels most recent victory came against Jacksonville State, a 5-2 win in Jacksonville, Ala. EKU is led by senior Hugo Kleintovsky in singles play, who lays-claim to a 10-4 singles record, including an 8-2 record in the No. 1 singles position. Doubles play for the Colonels is led by the senior pairing of Philip Janz and Nicklas Shroeder, with the duo 6-1 on the season.
St. Francis is 1-9 on the season, having lost its last three matches in a row. The Red Flash's only win this year has come over Maryland-Eastern Shore. St. Francis lost the only two matches played against common opponents, falling 7-0 to Old Dominion and 7-0 to Duquesne. The Red Flash will compete against Robert Morris and Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, March 17 in Emmitsburg, Md., before facing the Dukes on Sunday.
