FARMVILLE, Va., March 26, 2011 - Senior Yaroslav Voznenko (Kherson, Ukraine/Kherson Technical) went 2-0 and won the final singles match to give James Madison (8-5) a narrow 4-3 victory at Longwood (4-6) on Saturday afternoon at Lancer Tennis Courts.

With the match tied 3-3, Voznenko faced Edward Becker at No. 6 singles to decide the winner of the dual. The senior cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory to give the Dukes their second straight win and fourth in the last five matches.

The Dukes swept the three doubles matches to claim the early 1-0 lead. Sophomore Ryan Pool (Melbourne, Australia/Braemar (Chattanooga)) and senior Matt King (Lorton, Va./Robinson (Old Dominion)) blanked Milo Barajas-Alexander and Edward Becker 8-0 at No. 2 doubles, and sophomore Greg Vladimirsky (Coral Springs, Fla./Broward/Virtual) and junior Bertrand Moulin (Lyon, France/Aux Lazaristes Minimes (Wayne State)) won 8-3 at No. 1 over Marc Ferrigno and Jimmy Davis.

Voznenko and sophomore Florent Sentenac (Borderes, France/Lycee Theophile Gautier (Auburn Montgomery)) rallied at No. 3 doubles to complete the sweep, with an 8-7 (7-3) win versus Nobu Tanaka and Crescento Lesser.

Junior Jovan Milic (Belgrade, Serbia/Belgrade Sports School) gave the Dukes a 2-0 about 30 minutes into singles play. After dropping the first game in the first set at No. 5 against Barajas-Alexander, he did not concede another game with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Longwood tied the match at 2-2 after Tanaka cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 against Vladimirsky and Lesser took a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Sentenac at No. 3.

Pool gave JMU the lead back with a 6-4, 6-3 decision against Davis, but the Lancers knotted it up at 3-3 minutes later with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) win by Ferrigno over Moulin at No. 2.
