WRAPPING UP THE REGULAR SEASON: The James Madison men’s golf team will conclude the 2012-2013 spring regular season at the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. Hosted by Wofford College, the two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played at the Country Club of Spartanburg (Par 72 - 6,648 yards) on April 15-16. Madison will be one of eleven teams participating in the Invitational, which include host Wofford, Appalachian State, Longwood, Gardner-Webb, Elon, Presbyterian College, High Point, East Tennessee State, Winthrop, and Charleston Southern. This is the Dukes fifth and final tournament before the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.

REDEMPTION AT WOFFORD INVITATIONAL: The Dukes look to bounce back after a last place finish in the eighteen team field at the 2011-2012 Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational. James Madison shot a 36-over 900 last year at the Country Club of Spartanburg. The team was led by, now graduated senior, Chris Welde (Ellicott City,M.D./Centennial) for a tie in 37th place at 5-over 221. Only two current roster players, Trey Smith(Virginia Beach,Va./Kellam) and Ryan Vince(Charlotte, N.C./Providence), have competed in this tournament previously. Smith posted a 10-over 226 to tie for 56th, while Vince tied for 77th at 13-over 229.

ROAD TO CAA CHAMPIONSHIP: The Colonial Athletic Association Championship will be held in Southport, N.C. on April 26-28 at the St. James Planation Reserve Club (Par 72 - 7,100 yards). James Madison will have ten days to prepare between the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational and the CAA Championship. The Dukes have competed well this spring season with two third-place finishes at The Bash at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and at The Keith Hills Invitational in Buies Creek, N.C.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT:  Rich Leeper and Ryan Vince have used experience and leadership this season to lead the Dukes to success. Leeper, who was named CAA Golfer of the Week twice this spring, has shot an average of 74.78 per round this season. While winning first place in the Bash at the Beach Invitational Leeper shot a 65 in the final round, the second lowest round in school history. His final score of 204 was the third-lowest 54-hole total in school history. Vince’s best finish was in sixth place and had a career low round of 67 this season. He is shooting an average of 75.50 a round and has made 51 birdies this season, which is second best on the team. Both these seniors look to finish strong in their last regular season tournament before postseason play.
