JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 24, 2012 - On day one at the NCAA East Region Preliminary Track and Field Championships in Jacksonville, Fla. on Thursday, the James Madison track and field team was represented by three athletes.  Three CAA Champion juniors, Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill), Marissa McDonald (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) and Annie Reiner (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) all strapped on the spikes for the purple and gold.

Harman, the CAA's 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter champion, competed in the 1500 meters.  Harman finished the preliminary round in 47th place.  Her time of 4:41.04 did not qualify her for continuing competition at the meet.

In the long jump, McDonald put together a leap of 5.93 meters.  Her mark was good for 26th place out of 48 competitors.  The top-12 finishers from Thursday's preliminary round move on to compete again tomorrow.

Reiner was Madison's final competitor of the day.  Running the 800-meter run, Reiner crossed the line in 2:09.02, good for 26th out of 47 athletes.

After winning its first ever CAA Championship in May, NCAA East Region Preliminary competition wraps up the 2012 slate for Madison.
