Track and Field Set for Final Weekend of Regular-Season Competition at Penn Relays

HARRISONBURG, Va., April 25, 2012 - In the final weekend before Colonial Athletic Association Championships, the James Madison track and field team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for the Penn Relays.

Heading into competition at Penn, the Dukes have had 11 athletes meet the ECAC qualifying standard for 12 individual events as well as having qualified all three relay teams (4x100, 4x400 and the 4x800). At the meet the Dukes hope to add more individuals to that qualifying list. Madison will have just one athlete competing in an ECAC event that is yet to qualify. Freshman Daquaä Scott (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) will try her luck at the shot put in hope of reaching the 13.60-meter standard.

The Dukes will also have nine other athletes competing at the Penn Relays in six events. Madison will race in four relays including the 4x100, 4x400 and the sprint medley relay as well as having competitors in the long jump and discus events.
