RICHMOND, Va., April 24, 2012 - James Madison junior track and field athlete Marissa McDonald (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) earned Colonial Athletic Association Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors for her efforts at the JMU Invitational.
McDonald took runner-up honors in the long jump at the Dukes' only home event. The junior reached 6.06 meters (19'10.75), second all-time in the long jump in Dukes' school history. It also is the best CAA long jump this season and qualifies McDonald for the ECAC Championships.
The honor is McDonald's first this season and marks the second time in her career that she has been named Field Athlete of the Week. She also received the award in 2011 for her efforts in the long jump.
