RICHMOND, Va., April 17, 2012 - James Madison junior distance runner Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) has been named Colonial Athletic Association Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her accomplishments at the Patriot Open Invitational hosted by George Mason on April 14.
Harman earned the honor after winning the 1,500-meter competition on Saturday. Her time of 4:22.75 qualified her for ECAC Championships by more than eight seconds and ranks as the sixth fastest 1,500-meter time in JMU history. It also stands as the CAA's best time this season. This marks the first time in Harman's career that she has received the honor for track and field.
