HARRISONBURG, Va. February 22, 2012 - The James Madison track and field team will split up this week for meets in New York City and Fairfax, Va. The Dukes will send one group to the Armory Challenge at the New Balance Track & Field Center in New York on Thursday and another to the Patriot Last Chance Invitational hosted by George Mason on Sunday.
Heading into this week's competition, the Dukes have 16 individuals qualified for ECAC Championships in 12 different events. Head Coach Ta' Frias said the Dukes will use these two meets as both a tune-up as well as a final opportunity to add athletes to the ECAC roster.
"These are the last two meets of the regular indoor season and will serve primarily as a tune up for our post season qualifiers," Frias said. "They will also provide last chance opportunities to those close to the ECAC qualifying standards. We have had a great season thus far with a plethora of individual and relay ECAC qualifiers as well as a many athletes earning spots on the JMU All-Time indoor list."
Competition at the Armory Challenge begins Thursday afternoon at 12:30, while the Patriot Last Chance Invitational starts Sunday at 10 a.m.
