BLOOMINGTON, Ind., May 28, 2011 - Senior Alison Parris (Saint Leonard, Md./Patuxent) concluded her James Madison career on Saturday at the NCAA East Preliminary Meet at Indiana's Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex.
Parris finished the 5,000-meter run in 37th place after completing the race in 17 minutes, 3.23 seconds. The senior was the Colonial Athletic Association champion in the event three weeks ago and third at the ECAC meet the following weekend.
She was also the CAA Athlete of the Year for cross country last fall after setting the UNC Wilmington course record en route to the individual title at the conference meet.
On Thursday, sophomores Marissa McDonald (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) and Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) made their NCAA debuts.
McDonald turned in a 30th-place finish in the long jump with a leap measuring 5.80 meters (19'0 1/2"). That mark was nine and a quarter inches off from qualifying for the NCAA finals.
Harman placed 45th in the 1,500-meter run after crossing the line in four minutes, 39.40 seconds. Her time was 8.47 seconds off in her heat from advancing through to the quarterfinal round.
