BLOOMINGTON, Ind., May 26, 2011 - Sophomores Marissa McDonald (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) and Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) made their NCAA debuts on Thursday at the East Preliminary Meet at Indiana's Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex.
McDonald turned in a 30th-place finish in the long jump with a leap measuring 5.80 meters (19'0 1/2"). That mark was nine and a quarter inches off from qualifying for the NCAA finals.
Harman placed 45th in the 1,500-meter run after crossing the line in four minutes, 39.40 seconds. Her time was 8.47 seconds off in her heat from advancing through to the quarterfinal round.
On Saturday, senior Alison Parris (Saint Leonard, Md./Patuxent) will race in the 5,000-meter run at 8:05 p.m.
