PRINCETON, N.J., May 15, 2011 - James Madison had a pair of fourth-place finishes on Sunday to round out competition at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Weaver Stadium.
The Dukes finished the meet in eighth place with 29 points. A total of 53 teams recorded at least one point in the event. Duke won the team title with 73.75 points, beating Connecticut by 8.75 points.
Sophomore Marissa McDonald (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) and freshmen Jordan Simmons (Plainfield, N.J./Bishop Ahr), Ashley Williams (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) and Ciarra Morris (Richmond, Va./Meadowbrook) recorded a time of 46.24 seconds in the final of the 400-meter relay to finish in fourth place. Long Island's foursome won the race in 45.52.
Simmons also placed fourth in the 100-meter dash after crossing the line in 11.93 seconds. Syracuse's Flings Owusu-Agyapong won with a time of 11.79.
In the 1,500-meter final, sophomore Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) took 11th in 4:34.20, while junior Jaclyn Smith (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) was 20th in the triple jump with a leap measuring 11.68 meters (38'4").
