RICHMOND, Va., April 16, 2011 - Sophomores Danyelle Kent-Robinson (Bristow, Va./Brentsville) and Annie Reiner (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) each won an individual event at Saturday's rain-shortened VCU Invitational at Sports Backers Stadium.
Kent-Robinson won the high jump with after clearing the bar at 1.65 meters (5'5"). She tied VCU's Allison Morris with the same height, but finished first due to a jump off. Reiner also finished first the 800-meter dash after crossing the line in 2:16.81.
The Dukes also had a pair of runner-up finishes on the afternoon. Sophomore Jennifer Monk (Bloomington, Ill./Central Catholic) took second in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 14.72 seconds and sophomore Michelle Savarese (Middletown, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) completed the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:41.66.
JMU had 12 other top-10 finishers, including seven top fives.
Sophomore Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) was third in the 800 after clocking a time of 2:22.32, while sophomore Maria McDonald (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) was fifth in 2:22.86.
The Dukes' 400-meter relay squad consisting of sophomore Marissa McDonald (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East), and freshmen Jordan Simmons (Plainfield, N.J./Bishop Ahr), Ashley Williams (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin) and Ciarra Morris (Richmond, Va./Meadowbrook) were third with a time of 47.27 seconds, which exceeded the ECAC-qualifying standard.
Simmons also took fourth in the 100-meter dash with an ECAC-qualifying time of 11.90 seconds, while fellow freshman Lauren Privette (Round Hill, Va./Loudoun Valley) was not far behind in eighth position in 12.28.
In the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Whitney Staton (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) placed fourth with a time of 1:07.23. Freshman Kristen Greene (Colonial Heights, Va./Thomas Dale) and sophomore Christianna Moss (Montpelier, Va./Patrick Henry) each finished fifth in their respective field events. Greene had a launch of 10.93 meters (35'10 1/2") in the shot put, while Moss had a throw measuring 38.50 meters (126'4") in the discus.
Kent-Robinson also had a top-10 finish in the 100-meter hurdles, taking seventh in 15.36 seconds. Freshmen Sarah Jochem (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) and Kala Young (Harrisonburg, Va./Spotswood) finished back-to-back in the high jump in seventh and eighth places. Both cleared the bar at 1.50 meters (4'11), but Jochem finished one place ahead in a jump off. Sophomore Jamie Lott (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) out JMU's top-10 finishers in eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.03.

The Dukes return to action next Saturday when hosting the JMU Collegiate Invitational at the JMU Track and Field Complex in Harrisonburg, Va.
