RICHMOND, Va., Feb. 17, 2014 – Junior midfielder Ali Curwin (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) earned Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week honors for women’s lacrosse, as the league announced today its first awards of the 2014 season.

In the Dukes’ 14-11 win over Virginia Tech in their season opener, Curwin scored four goals and notched two assists to tie a game-high six points on the day.  Her second goal of the afternoon tied the game at 3-all and sparked a 6-1 run by JMU to take an 8-4 lead over the Hokies.

Curwin was tabbed a preseason All-CAA team member by league coaches this season after she earned All-CAA Second Team honors in 2013.  In the offseason, she represented Israel in the 2013 Lacrosse World Cup.

JMU travels south this week for a Thursday match-up at Florida.  Play begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Donald R. Dizney Stadium at the Florida Lacrosse Facility.
