The Dukes guard was honored for her play in JMU's wins over Georgia Southern on Dec. 31 and at North Carolina Wilmington on Jan. 6.
Burkholder poured in a career- and game-high 27 points in a 93-44 home victory over Georgia Southern. She shot 75 percent (9-12) from the field, including 66.7 percent (6-9) from 3-point range. Burkholder also made a game-high four steals and grabbed eight rebounds.
In a 60-39 win at UNCW Burkholder had game highs of 15 points and three steals, along with nine rebounds and a season-high three assists.
She ranks eighth in the CAA in both scoring (14.9) and rebounding (7.6) and leads the CAA and ranks 15th in the NCAA in free-throw percentage (89.2). Burkholder also is third in the league and 27th in the NCAA in 3-point average (2.85).
JMU takes a four-game winning streak and a three-game home winning streak into a Jan. 10 game vs. Drexel at the JMU Convocation Center. The Dukes' overall record is 7-6, and JMU is 1-0 in CAA play.
