HARRISONBURG, Va. - James Madison women's golfer Nikola Wessels (Muenster, Germany/Marienschule Muenster) has been named a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar, the organization announced. To earn the award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 grade point average during the 2012-13 school year and have played in at least 50 percent of the teams rounds during the year.

"I am very proud of Nikola for her outstanding achievement of being named to the All-American Scholar team," Head Coach Paul Gooden said. "Nikola is a dedicated, hard working young woman in the classroom and on the course. She is a leader and brings a great attitude to our team."

The second straight year she has won the award, Wessels played in 11 events and 33 rounds this year, averaging 81.06 strokes per round and helping the Dukes to the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association title and the program's first berth in the NCAA Regionals in eight years. Wessels had two top-30 finishes on the year, with the best placing 28th at the CAA Championship at 34-over 250. Her other was a tie for 28th at the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate. She had 14 rounds in the 70s and was second for JMU at the East Regional in a tie for 79th with a season-low 13-over 229 at the tournament.
