HARRISONBURG, Va. – The James Madison football team will have a new surface to play on in Bridgeforth Stadium next year. Because of a structural and safety issue that has turned it into a warranty matter, the turf inside the renovated stadium is being replaced, starting today. The project will be completed in time for practice to start in early August.
“The turf in the stadium is being replaced due to a warranty issue,” Director of Athletics Jeff Bourne said. “This became known in recent years with small pieces of the turf coming up and the surface looking dark when we did the proper grooming. After consulting with the company, they agreed so we have started replacing it now for the 2013 season.”
