HARRISONBURG, Va. - The James Madison cross country team heads south to Charlotte, N.C., to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional meet on Friday, Nov. 9.  Hosted at McAlpine Creek Park, the women's 6,000-meter race is set to begin at noon.

The Dukes, currently ranked eighth in the Southeast Region, are competing against 41 squads at the NCAA regional meet.  Included in the field of 41 are Duke, the current regional No. 1 and national No. 10 team, as well as William & Mary, the regional No. 2 and 2012 Colonial Athletic Association champion squad.

"It will, by far, be the biggest meet we've run in this year, both number-wise and quality-wise, but I think we're ready for the challenge," head coach Dave Rinker says.  "If we stay focused and run tough like we did at conference, we'll be successful."

Last season, Madison saw all five scoring runners finish in the top-80 of a 240-runner field, and four of those return to compete in this year's meet.  Senior Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill), who led the Dukes with a 17th-place finish in 2011, will be joined by fellow seniors Stacey Nobles (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) and Annie Reiner (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) as well as sophomore Kristen Landry (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes).

The top-two teams at the Southeast Regional automatically advance to the NCAA Championship Meet.  The top-four individual runners from the southeast who are not members of those squads also advance.  They will be joined by the automatic-qualifying teams and individuals from the eight other regional meets, 13 at-large teams and two at-large individuals in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday, Nov. 17.
