NEW ORLEANS, LA., February 13, 2012 - The James Madison cross country team has earned U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I All-Academic status. JMU had a cumulative GPA of 3.33 and was one of seven Colonial Athletic Association teams to earn the honor.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All‐Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
Georgetown University earned this seasons USTFCCA NCAA Division I Women's Scholar Team of the Year. The Hoyas had a cumulative GPA of 3.28 and won their first NCAA cross country title in school history.
Nine of the top ten finishing teams at the 2011 NCAA Cross Country Championships earned All-Academic status. Of the 31 teams that participated in the national final, 26 of those earned All-Academic status.
