RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 4, 2011- James Madison junior Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday, the league office announced.
The Clarksville, Md. athlete earned her second career weekly CAA honor after placing eighth overall out of 225 runners in the Notre Dame Invitational. She covered the 5K blue race course in 17:15, 19 seconds behind the race winner. Her effort helped the Dukes achieve a tie for 14th place in a field of 28 teams, which included six of the nation's top 30 squads.
Harman shared the honor with William and Mary sophomore Elaina Balouris, who led her team to a third-place finish among 11 teams from the Southeast region at the Paul Short Invitational on Sept. 30.
JMU, which is ranked seventh in the Southeast Region of the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association pool, will return to action Oct. 14 at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational in Madison, Wisc.
