LEESBURG, Va. - Running a second squad after yesterday's Notre Dame race had the first part of the team, James Madison had five runners in the top 26 and finished fourth as a team at the George Mason Cross Country Invitational, held at Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va., Oct. 1. George Mason won the team title with a score of 46, while the Dukes finished with 82 points.
The Dukes were led by freshman Rachel Hagen (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls), who finished sixth in a time of 23:39. Junior Michelle Savarese (Middletown, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) was next in 14th at 24:15, while freshman Tiel Westbrook (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) was 21st in 24:30. Freshman Morgan Price (Gainesville, Va./Brentsville) was next in 23rd with a time of 24:34, with freshman Lizzy Powell (Richmond, Va./Mills E. Godwin) rounding out the scoring runners in a time of 24:49, placing 26th. Junior Jacki Ferrance (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) was the final runner, finishing 43rd in 25:50.
The individual winner was Alison Peter, running unattached, in a time of 22:24, 30 second ahead of George Mason's Rochelle Sceats.
