Cross Country to Run at Cavalier Open Friday

HARRISONBURG, Va., Nov. 4, 2010 - The James Madison cross country team will return to action on Friday afternoon at the University of Virginia's Cavalier Open in Charlottesville, Va.

While the championship squad will rest in preparation for the NCAA Southeast Regional meet in Louisville, Ky. (Nov. 13), the "B" team will have its last chance to race prior to the ECAC Championships (Nov. 20).

Last year at the event senior Mariah Hagadone (Mt. Solon, Va./Buffalo Gap) was JMU's top finisher, covering the five-kilometer course in 10th place with a time of 19 minutes, 6.0 seconds.

Running unattached, senior Jessica Propst won the race in 18:18.3.

The Dukes will go up against a pair of CAA foes in George Mason and VCU, along with teams from the host Virginia, King College, Liberty, Salem International, Team Blitz and other unattached runners.

There will be no team scoring in the 5K women's race, which is set for a 4 p.m. start at Panorama Farms, Virginia's home course.
