TERRE HAUTE, Ind., Oct. 16, 2010 - James Madison senior Alison Parris (Saint Leonard, Md./Patuxent) finished the Pre-National Invitational at Indiana State University in seventh place out of 247 runners on Saturday at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Family Sports Center.
Parris, who finished 30th at last year's event, completed the six-kilometer course in 20:26.1, just 18 seconds behind Stony Brook's Lucy Van Dalen, who won the White Race in 20:08.1.
The Dukes finished in 20th as a team in the 40-team event with a total time of 108:47.9. Georgetown won the team title with a total time of 103:58.3, edging out runner-up Colorado by one-tenth of a second.
Also for the Dukes, sophomore Stacey Nobles (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) was 79th, clocking a time of 21:40.4 and sophomore Katie Gorman (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) crossed the line in 21:56.5, good for 112th place.
Sophomore Katie Harman (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) finished in 130th place after posting a time of 22:04.5 and junior Jess Zozos (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) rounded out JMU's team finish was a mark of 22:40.4 and 193rd place.
The Dukes will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 30, when they race against the best in the conference at the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association Championship at UNC Wilmington in Wilmington, N.C. The women's championship race is slated for a 10 a.m. start.
