CROSS COUNTRY HEADS TO PRE-NATIONALS AND WILLIAM & MARY SATURDAY

HARRISONBURG, Va., Oct. 15, 2010 - The James Madison cross country team returns to action Saturday (Oct. 16) with the team splitting off to run at the Indiana State Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind., and the William and Mary Open in Williamsburg, Va.
The "A" team will compete in the six-kilometer White Race on the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course at the Wabash Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind., at 11:35 a.m. The race will field 40 of the 80 schools, including host Indiana State, Florida, Georgetown, Kansas, Kansas State and 2009 Blue Race winner, Colorado. The other 40 teams compete in the Blue race at 11 a.m.
Last year, the Dukes finished 18th in the Blue Race. Senior Alison Parris (Saint Leonard, Md./Patuxent) clocked a time of 21:18.9 for 30th place and sophomore Stacey Nobles (Virginia Beach, Va./Ocean Lakes) was 75th in 21:53.1.
William and Mary is the lone Colonial Athletic Association foe joining the Dukes at the event. The Tribe will run in the Blue race.
The "B" team will travel East to participate in the six-kilometer race at Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg. Senior Mariah Hagadone (Mt. Solon, Va./Buffalo Gap) was JMU's top finisher at the W&M Open last year, with an eighth-place finish in 22:51.68.
Last time out, Parris led JMU to a third-place finish in the Gold Race at the Paul Short Run (Oct. 1) in Bethlehem, Pa. The senior was named CAA Cross Country Runner of the Week after she took third individually with a time of 20:15, 11 seconds off the lead mark.
